The Rotator Cuff! For those who are keen to learn 😉

The Rotator Cuff refers to a group of 4 distinct muscles and their tendons which provide strength and stability during movement of the shoulder:

1) Supraspinatus

2) Infraspinatus

3) Teres Minor

4) Subscapularis

(Yes I will test you on those! 😂)

The muscles arise from the scapula (shoulder blade) and connect to the head of the humerus (upper arm bone), forming a cuff around the glenohumeral (shoulder) joint. They are essential in almost every type of shoulder movement. keeping them balanced, both in strength and flexibility, is really important for healthy functioning! In Pilates paying careful attention to our alignment helps us to strengthen muscle groups in balance, improving our movement function and helping us to feel 'more open'. In Push Ups, the Rotator Cuff stabilises the Shoulders. 💪🏼
